Hi Omar, sorry I haven't gotten in contact with you. We've been extremely
busy. Anyways, we've decided to postpone the event on the 18th, and bring
it back on August 22nd. This way we'll have all promotions, sponsors, and
bands ready. Shoot us an email, and we'll try to get you on the bill for
the 22nd.

Good Day All:
There are a few chain link fences on my block. After cleaning the lots, my
boyfriend, who is a contractor has extra wood slats that we plan on
inserting in the fence to making them look more aesthetically pleasing.
While I don’t mind putting out some money to beautify the empty lots, I
would like to find out if there is an organization that provides free or
low cost flowers pots to lessen the expenses on us. Thanks for any
information.

Hi Marie,
The zoning meetings are at SPHINC (South Philly HOMES Inc) at 1444 Point
Breeze Ave. Usually on Tuesdays at 6:30pm. If you stop by there, they
will probably tell you when the next one is, as they don't have a usually
scheduled date. Good Luck!

Good Day All:
Just closed on my house yesterday and look forward to working with your
group to beautify point breeze.

You said there are zoning meetings- when do they take place. I am curious
as to how the city plans on tackling all of these vacant lots and abandoned
properties. Thanks for any input.

Hey Omar...
No there are not "Town Hall" meeting as of now for pbpioneers. There are a
bunch of different community meetings (block captains, zoning, parks, etc)
that we'd be happy to tell you about. We are having another Jazz Concert
this weekend (June 20th) at the Concert Garden. Hope you can make it out!

Hello, I have been a longtime, active community member of Pt Breeze, and I
have one problem if you plan on building businesses along pt breeze you
better consider hiring the African-American community we are all here to
help each and work on God's Green Earth!! I am one person that will not
allow anyone or anybody coming to our community to take over..think about
it first..please keep in mind crime, violence, drugs etc...will still be in
the community..i am working on doing some things to help clean it up..but
don't forget..who made this community what it is..many african-americans
are still prevalent in the community and I can afford to stay in my
community too!

Hi marie, the point breeze avenue business association is very active on pb
ave and has plans for development. their website is http://pointbaba.org/
Marie
12 May 2010, 14:11
Quick question. Has any one heard anything about what type of businesses
they are looking to put on Point Breeze Avenue? I am hoping that they
create something similar to East Passyunk Avenue or the Piazza at Schmidts
in Northern Liberties. I plan on joining the Pioneers this summer, but
also- is there an active Business Development Association here in Point
Breeze which will help lobby for store such as Whole Foods or retail
establishments?

Hi Marie- We're working with a Dietitian in the neighborhood to apply for a
grant with the Food Trust to establish a Farmers Market along Point Breeze
Avenue by next Spring. Please contact us to get involved. Her local
company is http://www.familyfoodllc.com/ offering great nutritional
programs for children and young families. We anticipate to learn more
about how to offer access to fresh food in PB, while researching the Food
Trust farmers market options.

Good Day All:
I have lived on the outskirts of Point Breeze for 10 years (closer to
Girard Estates) and now I am considering buying a home there due to its
close proximity to Center City, etc and it appears like the area is booming
with construction. The problem with this area is there are no cool places
for people to hang out at or that make people want to venture into the
neighborhood. It is pure residential. The East Side of Broad has the
Italian Market and South Street, West Philly has the cool restaurants
around Penn and Baltimore Avenue, North Philly has the Art Museum and
several shopping districts, you get my drift. We have nothing from West
Broad and running North to South from Washington down to Snyder to claim
our stake in this city. Point Breeze avenue, which we do have is just
lame. I figured since the Pioneers are working to make spaces greener and
sustatainable, why don’t we set up and Organic Farmers Market and lobby
for green residences, etc.

some insight as to how the neighbors are and how they like the
neighborhood. Thanks

Help the Clean Air council improve your hood by reporting idle vehicle
activity along Washington Avenue. It's now illegal in PA to be idle for
more than 5 minutes, it pollutes our air and causes asthma! This will also
hopefully help illegal parking!
Post idle vehicles on the site below, it's easy!

Hi Mhl,
Personally I have never run into any type of altercation. My girlfriend
and I have lived here for over a year without any problems. The people in
our neighborhood are genuinely nice, and ready to have conversations. The
only thing I would keep an eye out for is faulty construction, in new
homes. About 75% of our members, get water in their homes everytime it
rains among other things. We look forward to meeting you, and if you have
any questions, do not hesitate to email us directly.

Hi, Good to see there is a group for Point Breezy. I bought a house on

I totally agree Alina, thanks for the suggestions. We want to put
businesses that are an affiliate or a contributor to us. Or even a
business with the community in mind. With time hopefully we'll have the
whole community behind us. Does anyone know the name of the park that is
around 22nd and Reed/Federal?
Alina
09 Apr 2009, 21:55
Never mind! I just clicked the business link in and it went to the
corresponding business! But still, perhaps the business nearby my house
might be interested (a dry cleaning place, a hardware store, a restaurant,
the Asian market, a salon, etc... etc.)
Cheers!
Alina.

06 Apr 2009, 19:06
Hi Andrew, thanks for the comment. Point Breeze is recognized by the City
of Phila as the neighborhood that lies "East of Schuylkill River, north of
Passyunk Avenue, south of Grays Ferry Avenue." There is no western
border...Newbold Neighbors have defined Newbold as East of 18th St., but
many of our members are Newbold residents. We do not discriminate against
neighborhood affiliations...we just want to improve and support 19146.
Andrew
06 Apr 2009, 18:56
More people involved in Point Breeze is always a good sign. What are the
boundaries of Point Breeze? It seems like your mission is the same as
Newbold Neighbors, which goes to roughly 18th St.

I think this is awesome....
I have a home for sale on the 1900 Block of Manton and I am very excited
about all the changes happening. I am also in the Mortgage business and
would love to help out anyone that I can in the PB area. Values in this
area have increased so much that it is very easy to get either a Cash-Out
Refi at a very low rate or a Goverment Senior Reverse Mortgage to keep the
older residents in their homes to stay and enjoy this transformation. let
me know what I can pick up as a donation for the Pioneers
